«Aku Anak Siapa? Potret Anak Jalanan di Yogyakarta» was developed by Prof. Kozok from the University of Hawaii at Manoa*. The course explores the life of street children in Yogyakarta based on recorded interviews with street children, their caretakers, and representatives of the local community.
This e-Learning course is based on authentic audio recordings by Juliani Wahjana from Radio Nederland Wereldomroep Seksi Indonesia in the Indonesian language, and complemented by texts from the contemporary Indonesian media.
The interactive electronic textbook «Aku Anak Siapa? Potret Anak Jalanan Yogyakarta» consists of 36 lessons: 29 interviews with street children and 7 additional readings (bacaan). Each lesson is supplemented with a variety of interactive exercises. The course duration is 15 weeks.
Emphasis is on the development of advanced listening skills in both formal and colloquial Indonesian by listening to authentic audio recordings, and the development of reading and writing skills in formal Indonesian (bahasa Indonesia baku).
Level: Upper Intermediate. This course should only be taken by students who have reached CEF level B1 proficiency. It is best suited for students who have B2 proficiency . Is your Indonesian good enough that you can show visitors around and give a detailed description of a place? If you can do that, then Anak Jalanan is the right course for you.
