There are only a few basic technical requirements to access the materials on «Indonesian Online». You can use almost any operating system, such as Linux, Apple OS, or Windows, as long as you have an Internet connection. «Indonesian Online» also works on mobile devices running iOS and Android.
Software Requirements
You do not need to purchase any additional software to use «Indonesian Online». All required programs and applications are available for free download. You will need the following:
- A browser. The materials have been tested with Firefox, Safari, Chrome, and Opera. Firefox works best. I personally use Opera, which I find to be one of the fastest and most advanced browsers. Our materials have not been tested on Internet Explorer.
- An audio/video player. We strongly recommend the free VLC media player.
- A PDF reader. Mac users can open PDF files directly in Preview, but other users may need to install a PDF reader such as Adobe Reader.
- OpenOffice, LibreOffice, AppleWorks, or Microsoft Office to open the slide shows. All slide shows are provided in two formats: Keynote (the preferred option) and PowerPoint. (Please note that the slide shows are only available to users who have purchased the TIW Teacher Book.)
- If you would like to use the vocabulary flashcards, we strongly recommend downloading the free spaced-repetition program Anki, available for macOS, Linux, Windows, iPhone, and Android.
